On December 12, 2024, international trainees of the Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) for Oversea Government Railway Officials visited the Daejeon Transportation Corporation to experience firsthand Korea’s advanced urban rail systems.

The day began with a tour of the Integrated Control Center, where participants observed how real-time train operations are monitored and managed around the clock. Staff from the operations, power, mechanical, and communications divisions demonstrated their coordinated efforts in responding to unusual situations, emphasizing safety, efficiency, and rapid decision-making. Trainees were especially interested in how the control center ensures punctual and accident-free operations on Line 1, which serves approximately 100,000 passengers daily.

The visit continued at Panam Depot, Daejeon's primary rail maintenance facility. Here, trainees experienced a short train ride, toured the inspection workshop, and explored the maintenance operations that keep the trains running smoothly. They also learned about the depot’s systematic approach to safety inspections—covering tracks, signals, power lines, and onboard systems—and the rotating work schedules that maintain operational readiness.

The field trip provided valuable exposure to Korea’s railway technology and digital platform-based management systems. For KGSP trainees, this visit was not only educational but also an inspiring model for the development of safe and efficient public transit systems in their respective countries.
