A. Purpose of Establishment
(1) University Profile
Woosong University is a specialized university located in Daejeon, South Korea, that provides specialized curricula based on practice and theory. WSU’s three international schools, SolBridge International School of Business, Endicott College of International Studies, and JW Kim College of Future Studies, are conducted solely in English by renowned international professors. In addition to the international colleges and schools, we have four schools including; the College of Railway Transportation, College of Software Convergence, College of Hotel and Culinary, College of Health and Welfare, and Woosong Graduate School. Since the establishment of the university in 1995, Woosong University has signed more than 400 Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with universities and schools in more than 60 countries. Collaborative programs include student and faculty exchange programs, joint research, dual degrees, study abroad, and other programs.

(3) Living in Daejeon
Since Woosong University is located near the center of South Korea, there is always something interesting happening, as long as you know where to look. From festivals and cultural events to beautiful sites and unique culinary experiences, they are all within an hour and a half from Woosong.
Daejeon is the fifth largest city in Korea with a population of about 1.5 million. Daejeon is the mecca of South Korea's railways. The headquarters of the Korea Rail Network Authority and Korea Railroad Corporation are located in Daejeon (The photo below). In addition, Daejeon has Daejeon Metropolitan Transit Corporation and many railway-related companies.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Korean government agency in charge of railway policy, is also located in Sejong City, close to Daejeon.
(4) Purpose of Establishment
As part of the Ministry of Education's graduate school support policy, the Department of Railways at our graduate school aims to nurture high-quality professionals needed in railway-related public institutions and industrial sites.
Through organic cooperation between universities, research institutes, industry, and the government, we aim to develop core and basic railway technologies, joint R&D, and support for railway management and technical job retraining.
Our graduate school fosters railway professionals and provides continuous educational opportunities to railway workers to strengthen self-development and contribute to railway development. Based on this, we guide the railway-related industry to develop to a global level.
B. Objective of Establishment
Opportunities to learn specialized skills and knowledge of railway-related research institutes, railway construction organizations, railway operating organizations, and railway-related companies in Korea.
Providing education and research opportunities in preparation for future technologies for rail transportation such as high-speed rail, light rail, and subway.
Support effective education and research environment by utilizing common equipment and facilities for experiments and research.
Conducting high-quality education and research projects by inviting the best experts in each field as professors.
REGULATIONS
Participants should participate in the program to the best of their abilities
Participants should refrain from engaging in political activity or any form of employment for profit or gain
Participants must return to their home country upon completion of the program and resume work in their country
Participants should not extend the length of the program or stay for personal convenience
Participants are not permitted to change the flight schedule arranged by WSU for personal convenience
Participants should not be accompanied by any members of their family
Participants are to assume responsibility for any personal expenses incurred regardless of implementation of the course
Participants are required to strictly observe the course schedule and abide by the rules and regulations stipulated by the Korean government in respect to the program
Participants should cooperate in preventing any sexual harassment and attend a short training session regarding ‘Sexual Harassment Prevention’ on the first day of WSU orientation.
