From October 29 to 31, 2025, trainees of the Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) for Overseas Government Railway Staffs participated in the International Conference on Advanced Railways and Transportation (ICART 2025), hosted by the Korean Society for Railway in Jeju, Republic of Korea.

ICART 2025 is a prestigious international academic conference held biennially, providing a platform for researchers, industry experts, and practitioners to share the latest advancements in railway engineering and transportation systems. The 2025 conference, held in Jeju, brought together approximately 300 participants from 25 countries and featured around 170 research presentations under the theme of “Future Railway and Mobility with AI and Digital Innovation.”

During the conference, participants attended keynote speeches, special sessions, and technical presentations covering a wide range of topics, including AI-based railway systems, digital transformation, railway safety, infrastructure management, and sustainable mobility solutions. The sessions provided valuable insights into emerging technologies and global railway trends.

In addition to academic sessions, the trainees also engaged in networking activities with international researchers and industry professionals, fostering knowledge exchange and building global connections. The program included various academic presentations as well as opportunities to explore innovative research and practical applications in the railway sector.

Furthermore, participants took part in technical tours and local programs in Jeju, gaining broader perspectives on Korea’s railway industry and cultural environment. This experience allowed them to connect academic knowledge with real-world practices.

Through their participation in ICART 2025, the trainees were able to enhance their understanding of cutting-edge railway technologies and strengthen their global competencies. This experience is expected to contribute significantly to their future roles in advancing railway systems and promoting international cooperation in their respective countries.
