On June 30, 2026, the Completion Ceremony of the 8th Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) for Overseas Government Railway Staffs was held at the W7 Building, 4th Floor Faculty Conference Room of Woosong University, marking the successful conclusion of a ten-month training journey for 32 railway officials from 12 partner nations.
The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), Woosong University's President and faculty members, program officials, and all 32 graduating trainees. The program opened with introductions of distinguished guests, followed by congratulatory remarks from MOLIT and a commemorative address by the President of Woosong University, both emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in railway development and the role of the KGSP program in cultivating global railway professionals.
The centerpiece of the ceremony was the presentation of completion certificates, conferred by the President of Woosong University to each of the 32 trainees, officially recognizing their successful completion of the training program, which ran from September 2025 to June 2026. This was followed by an award ceremony, where five outstanding trainees were honored with certificates of excellence in recognition of their exceptional performance and dedication throughout the program — continuing the tradition established in previous batches.
On behalf of all graduating trainees, a representative from Tajikistan delivered a heartfelt response speech, expressing gratitude to the Korean government, Woosong University, and all those who made the program possible, while reflecting on the knowledge, experiences, and friendships gained during their time in Korea. A commemorative group photo was taken to mark the occasion, and the ceremony concluded with a luncheon for all attendees.

Over the course of the ten-month program, trainees completed a comprehensive curriculum covering railway engineering, policy, and management, participated in technical field trips to Korea's leading railway research institutions, manufacturers, and construction sites — including KRRI, DAEATI, 2ISYS, Hyundai Rotem, and the Gangneung–Jejin railway construction site — and engaged in networking meetings with Korean railway companies. The program also included the Final Evaluation Workshop, where trainees presented research papers on railway development strategies for their home countries, and the KR Rail Camp hosted by the Korea National Railway.
The graduating trainees from 12 partner nations — Laos, Mongolia, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Indonesia, Kenya, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Thailand, and Panama — will return to their home countries to apply the knowledge and experience gained through the KGSP program, serving as ambassadors of Korea's railway technology and fostering continued international cooperation in the global railway sector.
The KGSP Global Railway Training Program at Woosong University's Graduate School of Railway is supported by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), and continues to serve as a vital platform for knowledge exchange between Korea and partner countries in the railway sector.
